If I plan on having people downloading semi large files from a server (direct downloads), with a peak of about 300 people downloading at once or around the same time, what kind of host would I need?

VPS?
dedicated?

any suggestions to what host I should use? Cheaper the better =)

I want to be able to have a computer specifically made for just being a server on the internet. I have some friends across the US that would want to play. I have started one before using the GUI interface, but when it is running, and I can join the server, when I send the IP to someone, they cannot connect to it. Ideas?

Also, give me as much info as possible to something I may be missing out on or explain the entire process of starting up an internet server for CS:Source. THANKS!

I’m going to be running a site with profiles that link to a 30 sec. video. I’ll be hosting the videos and streaming them from the server. People can search through the profiles and watch the videos. Any recommendations on companies or types of hosting (dedicated virtual server vs. physical server, etc).

I have an HP TouchSmart with 4 gb of RAM and i host a Game server on it. Would a dedi with 1gb of ram still prevent lag in the game more than my computer does or would i have to get a dedi more than 4gb of ram?

My hosting company set “ns2.myhostingcompany.com” as primery DNS to my website. Is it correct? (Now, my control panel shows as below:
Primary: ns2.myhostingcompany.com
Secondary: ns1.myhostingcompany.com)

Or Do I change ns2 as Secondary (as shown below)?
Primary: ns1.myhostingcompany.com
Secondary: ns2.myhostingcompany.com

many advised that the above format is correct and to change it.

Changing or not changing will affect my site’s performance/speed…..?

For your reference:
My site is under-construction. (And I hope a million visitors will visit.)
My web hosting account has unlimited bandwidth and storage.
It is dedicated.
I planned to host many sites with it.

I’m confused. Please help me.
